Hand drawn typeface + Image transfer

With the constant replacement of the old with new, new buildings are increasingly looking alike. What give us an identity and our roots are these old charming places that are built by our forefathers. The concept of this typeface is literally inspired from the quote ‘Historic places give us roots’, and hence for each letter, shiny new buildings appears above the ground, while elements of the old architecture are buried underground.

Madison Square Park is at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway at 23rd Street in Manhattan.  Thousands of local people and tourists pass daily through the park. It is a recurring client of Pentagram, which is located next to the Park. Every season, Pentagram designs new banners that hang around the Park. During my tenure at Pentagram, I designed the Summer and Winter banner for 2013.

El Cariñito is a mexican restaurant located in the downtown of Querétaro, México that wanted us to evoke a laid-back marketplace atmosphere with hints of mexican kitsch elements in their logotype and in the restaurant branding. In order to represent a traditional culture without shout out clichés in every element, we focused on what defines a typical restaurant in town, besides the food, the higher colorful aesthetics that brings folk into a every detail of the eating experience.

Yorokobu is a Spanish magazine that focuses on creativity, innovation, technology and design. Each month, different designers contribute to the “Numerografía” section by creating a set of numbers and in issue No. 48 we sent in our Roman Numerals.
These Roman Numerals are the offshoot of classical typography and architecture; the stems become Ionic columns; the shoulders, semicircular arches; and the crossbars, friezes. Between them, they also work as modules to play with and create small constructions.
Symbolically, in the same way that the objective of mathematics is to discover the universe, so numbers are the bricks that form that universe.

The concept for this biographical book cover series was centered around the author’s place of origin, and features elements that directly reference those places. A papercraft technique was used to create a three dimensional landscape scene which would enforce the idea of the author’s setting and help achieve a sense of cohesiveness through out the series.

I chose to incorporate fences and other small icons to depict the author’s life and to help illustrate what kind of environment these literary legends were exposed to and how that had direct influence on some of the most famous stories in history.

Having quickly grown from a junior exploration company to a bonafide gold producer, the leading producer in Vietnam no less, Olympus Pacific Minerals came to us in need of a complete rebrand. Their rapid growth had left them with an array of logos and gold fields branded individually rather than sitting under one overall corporate banner.

Their new name was to be Besra. Which was particularly apt as the Besra hawk, a native of South East Asia, is a tenacious and agile hunter with superb vision; which fitted the company’s vision perfectly. Conveniently an illustrated Besra hawk’s head also sat perfectly with the final logo design.

Multiple variations of the logo were designed to enable the creation of a hierarchy that put Besra at the top and worked down to individual gold fields. The branding was rolled out across stationary, their website, internal signage, uniforms and even a cafe.
