Sorry to have to vent this through your blog, but those Maybelline ads...on the whole I can see how they resonate with woman (I'm a guy by the way) but some seem borderline pretentious, especially the blue one, and the artwork doesn't differentiate from ad to ad enough for me. The girl comes across as really bitter and doesn't seem to understand that the Tumblr community, generally, is full of people who know nothing about design or advertising. Except great blogs like this one :) Your thoughts?
“Pretentious” is just a nicer way of saying “uppity,” don’t you think?
Which is to say: and? I, like much of the tumblr riff-raff you’re sneering at, know very little about graphic design or advertising. They’re pretty, and their message resonates powerfully with me as a woman. I understand why the person who made the ads was upset; I would be, too. Nearly 16,000 people liked them, and so did I, and my liking something is the sole criterion for that something getting reblogged here.
(Any subsequent asks about that post will be deleted, by the way; I hate it when blogs go down in storms of wank.)
